Professional and experienced teacher

Greetings! I am originally from Denver, Colorado, but spent the past 25 years living in Portland, Oregon—a city I love and am always happy to talk about.

I was fortunate to come to the Czech Republic in early October 2021 and quickly fell in love with life here. I truly enjoy teaching my students in Prague and look forward to meeting you as well!

I have been teaching students from all over the world for more than six years, working with adults, teenagers, and older children. I currently teach both online and in person from my new home in Prague.

I earned my teaching certification in 2019 while living in Portland, Oregon, completing over 200 hours of coursework and 20 hours of practical teaching experience.

My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Russian Studies and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. In addition, I bring more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and operations, primarily within organizations focused on intercultural education.

Language and culture are at the heart of my work. I have been learning Russian for over 30 years and lived in Russia for three years in the early 1990s, where I taught English alongside a variety of other roles. I also taught Russian at a community college in the United States approximately 20 years ago.

My lessons are designed around you and your goals. I create fun, engaging lessons based on your interests—not just what a textbook says you should learn. I love discussing culture, language, and travel, and I’m just as interested in learning about you. I often use a platform called Off2Class, which offers hundreds of lessons that can be adapted to your needs and level. I also work with students on academic skills such as writing and editing papers. I’ve helped several students prepare for the TOEFL exam, and many have gone on to study in master’s programs in the United States. If you need support with professional English—writing emails, communicating with colleagues, preparing for interviews, or anything related to English at work—I’m happy to help with that too. Most importantly, I know that it takes a few lessons for us to get to know each other and figure out what works best. I want to understand your interests, your goals, and your learning style.
